Begining Your Journey With Us
Our enlightening half-day tour to Ancient Corinth commences with a scenic 70 km journey along the National highway, venturing into the heart of the Peloponnese. Our first highlight is the impressive Corinthian Canal, or Isthmus Canal, a marvel that links the Saronic and Corinthian Seas.
We’ll pause briefly at this engineering wonder for a photo opportunity, capturing the essence of this historic waterway. Following this, a brief ten-minute drive, amidst the lush landscapes of orange and lemon orchards, brings us to the historic site of Ancient Corinth.
Here, we delve into the past, visiting the renowned Corinth museum, the majestic Temple of Apollo – the deity of Oracles and the Sun, the remnants of the Roman baths, and the significant Vima. It’s at this historic platform where St. Paul famously delivered his teachings to the Corinthians in 52 A.D., a moment that has echoed through history.
Next Stop: AcroCorinth!
Our next destination is the awe-inspiring Acrocorinth, known as “Upper Corinth,” the Acropolis that towers above the ancient city of Corinth, Greece. This commanding rock formation has been a sentinel over the region, rich in history and cultural significance.
As eloquently put by historian George Forrest, Acrocorinth stands as “the most impressive of the Acropolis of mainland Greece.” Its strategic importance is evident in its continuous occupation from archaic times right up until the early 19th century. Today, Acrocorinth is recognized as one of Greece’s most significant medieval castle sites, offering a window into the past.
Upon your interest, our exploration can extend to the ancient port of Kenchreai. This historical port, one of Corinth’s two major harbors, was a crucial nexus for trade routes across the Saronic Gulf. Notably, it was here that Apostle Paul made his landfall during his second missionary journey, adding a profound historical and spiritual dimension to our visit.
